About Lonely Mountain Ultra
About Us
Lonely Mountain Ultra began with a simple idea in 2022. A group of runners who loved Gaanha-bula Mount Canobolas decided to create an event that would share the mountain with others. What started as an invitation to “go for a run” quickly grew into a fully-fledged trail event, an event that’s built to cater for a broad range of runners, from beginners to seasoned ultra-runners, there’s something for all, including the kids!
LMU is hosted on private farmland with deep personal history. Our event blends intimate local roots with big-mountain ambition.
Today, LMU is known for its welcoming culture, tough yet beautiful terrain, and commitment to safety, sustainability and connection. It’s a race built by runners, for runners where we celebrate challenge, community, and the spirit of the trail running and the mountain itself, Gaanha-bula Mount Canobolas.
